Dr. Matthew P. Akers
Dr. Matthew P. Akers, Ph.D., holds a dual role at The University of Akron, serving as Special Assistant to the President for Government Relations and Associate Director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics in the Buchtel College of Arts and Sciences.
In his role of as Special Assistant to the President for Government Relations, Dr. Akers represents the University in interactions with government officials at the local, state, and federal levels. In his role of Associate Director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics, Dr. Akers contributes both to the day-to-day running of the Institute and its academic operations, including teaching courses.
Dr. Akers earned his B.A. in English from The University of Akron and his Ph.D. from Drew University in Madison, N.J.
