House Finance Committee Hears First Round of ODHE Testimony

The House Finance Committee heard over five hours of testimony on Thursday, February 11 relating to the Governor’s proposed FY 2022-2023 budget. Randy Gardner, the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education, testified as a proponent for the proposed budget, and requested a 1.9% increase ($38 million) for the State Share of Instruction, which targets “need-based financial aid, counseling and student support services, and workforce preparation,” according to his testimony. He also emphasized the importance of a $500 per-student increase in the Ohio College Opportunity Grant for need-based financial aid.
