Impact Ohio will hold the 2020 Post Election Conference on Thursday, November 5 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The conference is made possible thanks to our lead sponsor The Success Group, and our platinum sponsor The Ohio State Bar Association.
The Impact Ohio 2020 Post Election Conference, cosponsored by the Ohio Democratic and Republican parties, will offer a special, bipartisan opportunity to explore public policies important to Ohioans.
After much consideration, this year’s conference transitioned to all virtual attendance. While the 2020 Post Election Conference will look and feel a little different, attendees still have access to the live content they’ve come to expect of the Post Election Conference. To make accessing the conference as seamless as possible, we partnered with Whova, an app that will offer streaming, video replay, attendee engagement, and networking.
“We expect to have an engaging dialogue on a variety of topics, and we look forward to the opportunity to hear directly from those who will shape Ohio’s policy and political agenda for the upcoming biennium. Even though we can’t be together in person, it’s still the place to be after the election. We’re especially thrilled about the great agenda we have,” said Jennifer Flatter, CEO of Impact Ohio.
The conference agenda will feature government leaders, media professionals, business leaders, and policy experts, with Ohio Governor Mike DeWine offering an exclusive keynote address through a conversation with Dean Trevor Brown of the John Glenn College of Public Affairs from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Governor DeWine will share with attendees his thoughts and outlook on Ohio policy and politics following the general election. Lt. Governor Jon Husted will speak from 12:30 p.m.-12:45 p.m. to give an update on Ohio’s economy and business climate. Secretary of State Frank LaRose will also provide updates on Ohio’s election results and their impact on Ohio at 3:15 p.m.
The conference will host updates from Ohio’s legislative leaders. All four caucus leaders of the 133rd Ohio General Assembly will speak about legislative priorities and plans for the remainder of the 133rd General Assembly and for the upcoming 134th General Assembly. Senate President Larry Obhof will give remarks at 8:30 a.m., Senate Minority Leader Kenny Yuko will speak at 8:45 a.m., House Minority Leader Emilia Strong Sykes will join the conference at 10:15 a.m., and House Speaker Robert Cup will join the conference at 10:30 a.m.
The conference will feature five policy panels titled “The State of Racism & Racial Equity in Ohio,” “Election 2020: Observations from the Media,” “A Reflection on Campaign 2020: A
Political Analysis,” “The Budget: Ohio’s Funding Outlook,” and “The State of Healthcare and Medicaid in Ohio.”

The Success Group launched Impact Ohio in 1984 with the first Post Election Conference in Columbus, which is held every two years immediately following the general election. Interest has grown over the last 35 years, which led Impact Ohio to expand in 2017 with regional conferences. Since its inception, Impact Ohio has connected people, policy, and politics by offering information-packed conferences to explore elections, outcomes of the political process, and policy choices facing Ohio and its communities.
“After each conference we hear how much value our attendees gain from our expert-led panels and the opportunity to network with other attendees. We look forward to the 2020 Post Election Conference,” Flatter said.
